Does Islam mean ‘Peace’ like many ‘Modern Daees’ claim?

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatuhu,

Nahmaduhu wa nusalli ala rasoolihil kareem, Amma baad,

Modern apologist daees in their efforts to show that Islam is peaceful go to the limits of literally translating ‘Islam’ as ‘peace’.

One famous daee also translated the ayah 3:19,

“Inna addeena inda Allahil-islam”

as

“The only religion accepted in the sight of Allah is Peace”…

I got this from Shaikh Jamaal al-Din M.Zarabozo’s ‘Commentary on The Forty Hadith’ Vol.1,page 164.

He(hafidhaullah) writes when commenting on the Hadith-Jibreel,the 2nd hadith of Arbain an-Nawawi about the ‘meaning of Islam’:

Lexically speaking Islam means submission.In its particular sense related to the religion of Islam,Nomani wrote,

Literally,Islam denotes self-surrender or to give oneself up to someone and accept his overlordship in the fullest sense of the term.

So Islam by itself means submitting your will to the commands of Allah and not Peace.

May Allah guide us to the books of the true scholars and keep us away from misguided individuals who try to distort Islam so that it suits the taste of the masses.Aameen.
