Quiz Unauthentic Seerah Book Release Script 30th November 2019

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

الحمد لله و الصلاة و السلام على رسول الله و على آله و صحبه أجمعين

In sha Allah in this session we will be having some questions on Seerah! Seeratun Nabi ﷺ. So let all of us begin by sending salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. [Allahumma sallahi ala….. (full)…]

Now I will be asking some questions to the audience and the ones who answer it right will be rewarded In sha Allah. Are all of you ready?

Ok the first question is:

* It was narrated that the Prophet ﷺ carried the luggage of a Jewish lady who wanted to leave Makkah because she was afraid of a man called ‘Muhammad’. Which Hadith book has this story?

[Audience gives wrong answers]

Fine actually, this is a false and fabricated story. Not a true one.

Shaykh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Suhaym was asked about it and he replied:

“I looked up this story and did not find any origin for it, and in some versions of the story, it was mentioned that the woman was a Jew. So this is very unlikely, as there were no Jews in Makkah but they were rather in Madeenah.

Also, in some versions of the story, the Jewish woman described the Prophet ﷺ as a Saabi’ [i.e. someone who abandons the religion of his forefathers]. However, it is the people of Makkah who described the Prophet ﷺ as a Saabi’. This causes us to believe that the story is fabricated and baseless.“
(Summarize and shorten this answer)

See my dear brothers, just like we study the different sciences of Islam using the Quran and the authentic Sunnah, we should also use authentic narrations to study the Seerah.

Many people lie upon the Prophet ﷺ while narrating stories from him.

The Prophet ﷺ warned us from this, he said:

*(Arabic)

“Whoever lies upon me let him take his seat in the hell fire. ”

*Fine, so the next question is about this story:

That in a story- A Jewish lady would throw thrash on the Prophet ﷺ whenever he walked past her. One day she didn’t throw thrash on him as she was ill. Then the Prophet ﷺ went to her and spoke well to her. She was impressed and she accepted Islam. The question is- Did this happen in Makkah or Madinah?

[Crowd answers]

Ok. The answer is, this never happened!!! There is no proof for this story. This is another falsehood that is being spread again and again.

The next question is- How did Umar ibn Al-Khattab accept Islam?

[Crowd answers]

Ok. The story of the conversion of Umar ibn Al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) and his going to his sister Fathima, hitting her and her husband, his recitation of Surah TaHa and his acceptance of Islam after that. All of such narrations were reported in unauthentic chains. Dr.Akram Al-Umari said that none of the chains of this report are Saheeh in his book As-Seerah An-Nabawiyyah As-Saheehah.

The next one is: What is the story of Hamza’s acceptance of Islam?

The story of Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib’s acceptance of Islam, that he went and sought revenge from Abu Jahl for abusing the Prophet ﷺ and said in a fit of anger that he followed the religion of his nephew (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), is not authentic.

Dr. Akram Al-Umari conluded that this story hasn’t been proven to be authentic from any source.
[As-Seeratus-Sahiha of Dr.Akram Al-Umari (1/146)]

The final question is : Who was the first foster mother of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

[Crowd answers]

People think that the first lady (foster mother) of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was Haleema of Bani Saad, however what is authentic is that it was Thuwaibah, the freed slave of Abu Lahab, who suckled him first.

Thuwaibah is mentioned in many Ahadith in Al-Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim. See in Al-Bukhari , 5101.

So, actually we did this on purpose. Many a times, most of the stories we actually hear and convey are weak or unfounded.

The prophetic Seerah should also be studied using authentic sources, because the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ is from amongst the most important sources of learning the explanation of The Quran and the religion itself.

It is for this very reason that the scholars of Islam have authored well researched books on authentic Seerah and also books on weak and fabricated narrations in Seerah.

One such book in Arabic is ‘Ma shaa wa lam yathbut fis Seerah An-Nabawiyyah’ which was summarized and translated into the English language by a teacher from MHI.

And In sha Allah we’ll be releasing the book today.

I ask Allah to guide all of us to study and follow the authentic teachings of Islam. Aameen.
