Compilation of Ahadith from Sahih At-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb Part-2

Hadith 13:

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: The first of people against whom judgment will be pronounced on the Day of Resurrection will be a man who died a martyr. He will be brought and Allah will make known to him His favours and he will recognize them. [ The Almighty] will say: And what did you do about them? He will say: I fought for you until I died a martyr. He will say: You have lied – you did but fight that it might be said [of you]: He is courageous. And so it was said. Then he will be ordered to be dragged along on his face until he is cast into Hell-fire. [Another] will be a man who has studied [religious] knowledge and has taught it and who used to recite the Quran. He will be brought and Allah will make known to him His favours and he will recognize them. [The Almighty] will say: And what did you do about them? He will say: I studied [religious] knowledge and I taught it and I recited the Quran for Your sake. He will say: You have lied – you did but study [religious] knowledge that it might be said [of you]: He is learned. And you recited the Quran that it might be said [of you]: He is a reciter. And so it was said. Then he will be ordered to be dragged along on his face until he is cast into Hell-fire. [Another] will be a man whom Allah had made rich and to whom He had given all kinds of wealth. He will be brought and Allah will make known to him His favours and he will recognize them. [The Almighty] will say: And what did you do about them? He will say: I left no path [untrodden] in which You like money to be spent without spending in it for Your sake. He will say: You have lied – you did but do so that it might be said [of you]: He is open-handed. And so it was said. Then he will be ordered to be dragged along on his face until he is cast into Hell-fire. It was related by Muslim (also by at-Tirmidhi and an-Nasa’i).

[Sahih Muslim 1905, 40 Hadith Qudsi #6]

Hadith 14:

Narrated Jundub:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He who lets the people hear of his good deeds intentionally, to win their praise, Allah will let the people know his real intention (on the Day of Resurrection), and he who does good things in public to show off and win the praise of the people, Allah will disclose his real intention (and humiliate him).

[Sahih Al-Bukhari 6499]

Hadith 15:

On the authority of Ubai ibn Ka’b whi said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Give glad tidings to this Ummah of easiness, honour, and Rif’ah bid-Deen (highness in The Deen), and empowerment in their nation (bilad) and victory, (and know that) whosoever does an action of the Akhirah for the sake of seeking the Duniyah, he has no share of it (in rewards) in the Akhirah.”
أخرجه أحمد (٢١٢٥٨)، والحاكم (٧٨٦٢)، والبيهقي في «شعب الإيمان» (٦٨٣٣)

Hadith 16:

On the authority of Mu’adh bin Jabal, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There is no servant (of Allah) who does a deed to be heard of and for showing off except that Allah will expose him (his defects/sins) in front of the creations on the Day of Judgement.

(At-Tabarani Fee Al-Kabeer 237, Sahih Li Ghairihi)

Hadith 17:

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed said:
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out to us when we were discussing Dajjal (False Christ) and said: ‘Shall I not tell you of that which I fear more for you than Dajjal?’ We said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Hidden polytheism, when a man stands to pray and makes it look good because he sees a man looking at him.’”

(Sunan Ibn Majah 4204, Al-Bayhaqi Fee Shuaib Al-Imaan 6832, Hasan)

Hadith 18:

Mahmud bin Labid narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“The thing I fear most for you is the lesser shirk (polytheism).”

It was said: “And what is the lesser Shirk O Messenger of Allah?” He ﷺ said: Ar-Riya (showing off in worship). Allah Azzawajal will say when he will reward the people (on the Day of Judgement) for their deeds: Go to those people for whose sake you used to do good deeds in the Dunya, see if you can take your rewards from them!

(Musnad Ahmad 5/427, Al-Bayhaqi in Zuhd 4831, Sahih. )

Hadith 19:

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Allah says: ‘I am the Most Self-Sufficient and I have no need for an associate. Thus he who does an action for someone else’s sake as well as Mine will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with Me.’”

(Sunan Ibn Majah 4202)

Hadith 20:

On the authority of Abu ‘Ali- a man from Banu Kahil- who said that, Abu Musa Al-Ashari was addressing us one day and he said:

O people! Fear from this Shirk, for it is more hidden than the crawling of ants. (Then) Abdullah ibn Hazan and Qays bin Al-Mudarib stood and said:

By Allah you shall explain this to us or we shall go to Umar with or without seeking permission.

Abu Musa Al-Ashari said: I will explain what I said, the Prophet ﷺ addressed us one day and he said-

O people! Beware of this Shirk. For this is more hidden than the crawling of ants.

So one of whom Allah wished to (ask this question) asked: So how should we save ourselves from this when it id more hidden than the crawling of ants O Messenger of Allah!

(The Prophet ﷺ said:) Say

[ اللَّهمَّ إنّا نعوذُ بِكَ من أن نُشْرِكَ بِكَ شيئًانعلمُهُ،
ونستَغفرُكَ لما لا نعلمُهُ
]

O Allah, we seek refuge with You lest we should commit shirk with You knowingly and we seek Your forgiveness for what we do unknowingly.

[Musnad Ahmad 4/403, Hasan Li Ghairihi]
