Reflections from the Seerah, Saalim’s recitation of The Quraan.

I wanted to share a Hadith with all of you, it really touched my heart, that Ummi Aisha (رضي الله عنها) got late whilst returning home because of listening to the recitation of Saalim (رضي الله عنه) and Nabi ﷺ goes out with Ummi Aisha again and then he praises Allah for creating such people in this Ummah! Now whenever I drink the Zamzam I supplicate: O Allah! Make me recite the Quran like Salim Mawla Abee Hudaifa (رضي الله عنهما).

It was narrated that ‘Aishah the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“One night at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) I was late returning from the ‘Isha’, then I came and he said: ‘Where were you?’ I said: ‘I was listening to the recitation of a man among your Companions, for I have never heard a recitation or a voice like his from anyone.’ He got up and I got up with him, to go and listen to him. Then he turned to me and said: ‘This is Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah. Praise is to Allah Who has created such men among my Ummah.’”

Sunan Ibn Majah 1338. Shaikh Al-Albani said that this narration is Sahih. Imam Ibn Hajr is Hasan in Nataaij Al-Afkar 3/224.

Note: Written below for my reference.

●It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud that:
Abu Bakr and ‘Umar gave him the glad tidings that the Messenger of Allah had said: “Whoever would like to recite the Qur’an as fresh as when it was revealed, let him recite it like Ibn Umm ‘Abd (Abdullah bin Masood).'” (Sunan Ibn Majah 138, Hasan- Imam Muqbil bin Hadi.)

●Anas reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying to Ubayy b. Ka’b:

Allah has commanded me to recite the Qur’an to you. He said: Did Allah mention me to you by name? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Allah made a mention of your name to me. (On hearing this) Ubayy b. Ka’b wept. (Sahih Muslim 799a)
