Assalam u alaikum wrwb respected brother…
Barakallahu feek on the completion of the book on seerah with authentic compilation Alhamdulillah bi niamathihi tatimmussalihaath
My query regarding this is having studied the Quran tafseer in the light of seerah with reference from ar raheeq al makhtoum ….how authentic is our study of tafseer then ….do we need to restudy tafseer with the new seerah book in background
What is the best tafseer book you recommend…
Jazakallah khairan katheera wa ahsanul jaza…
Answer.
وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته
الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى اله واصحابه اجمعين ومن تبعهم باحسان الى يوم الدين اما بعد.
Jazakallahu Khairan kaseera sis for your Duas. May Allah accept this work from us and make it a source of our Salvation in the Duniyah and Akhirah.
Its is ok if someone uses Ar-Raheequl Makhtoum to study Tafseer as long as the teacher is aware of the weak and fabricated narrations in it.
But by looking at your question it seems that the teacher wasn’t aware of the weak and fabricated narrations in that and -taught Tafseer using it just as it is- falsely assuming that Ar-Raheequl-Makhtoum is the most authentic book on Seerah.
There is nothing to worry about that sister. Our life in seeking Islamic knowledge is a continuous process of learning and unlearning. Great Imams have learnt and unlearnt things and have changed their opinions throughout their lives.
However, as a very small but concerned student of knowledge, I’d advice myself and all of us, to be very diligent with regards to conveying knowledge. We’ve to be cent percent sure that what narrations we’re conveying is authentic according to the Ulama. We shouldn’t take it for granted that just because an Aalim ‘mentioned’ a story (without proofs) its authentic.
So please don’t worry. Use the newer available works of the scholars and study the Tafseer again. And there’s no saddening in this. Just like you studied it first for the sake of Allah, you’ve to study it again for His Pleasure.
Some works I’d suggest for Tafseer and Seerah:
Arabic:
1. Mukhtasar Sahih Tafseer ibn Katheer by Shaikh Mustafa Al-Adawi.
2. Saheeh Al-Musnad Min Asbabin Nuzool of Imam Muqbil.
3. Tafseer Al-Qurtubi (with checking).
4. Sahihus-Seerah of Al-Albani.
5. Sahihus-Seerah of Akram Diya Al-Umari.
6. As-Seerah An-Nabawiyyah of Dr.Mahdi Rizqullah Ahmed.
7. Etc… (A lot of books)
English:
1. Summarized Tafseer ibn Katheer of Darussalam (keep checking each narration).
(+ You may use the latest Urdu edition of Tafseer ibn Katheer checked by Hafiz Imran Ayyub Lahori where he mentioned the authenticity of narrations using the works of Muhaddiseen.)
2. Tafseer As-Sadi for Tazkiyyah based Tafseer.
3. Tafseer of Qur’an, by Dr.Muhsin Khan in 10 volumes.
4. Sahih Al-Musnad Min Asbabin Nuzool of Imam Muqbil (English).
5. The Bridges Translation of The Quran.
6. Summarized Tafseer by Center for Tafseer Studies.
7. The Biography of The Prophet In The Light of Original Sources by Dr.Mahdi Rizqullah Ahmed.
8. The Biography of The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ From Reliable And Credibly Established Narrations by Mohammed bin Thajammul Hussain Manna.
And Allah knows the best…
