Is the story of the smell of musk emanating from the grave of Saad bin Muadh authentic?

Abu Saeed AI-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) says: I was one of those who dug the grave of Saad bin Muadh (رضي الله عنه). every time we dug deeper, the smell of Musk emitted from the soil, all the way until we reached the Lahad (the section to place the body in).

(Summary of what was recorded by Imam Ad-Dahabi, from Al-Waqidi, in Siyar ‘Alam An-Nubala 3/177-181, Daral-Hadith Cairo Edition)

This narration has come to us from the way of Al-Waqidi, who was a known fabricator of narrations. There isn’t any reliable chain of this narration. And Allah knows the best.

With regards to the narration about The Throne of Allah, that it shook on the death of Saad bin Muadh, it is authentic.

Jabir bin ‘Abdullah reported Allah’s Messenger ﷺ as saying while the bier of Saad bin Muadh was placed before them:

The Throne of Ar-Rahman (The Most Gracious) shook at the death of Saad bin Muadh.

(Sahih Muslim 2466a, also in Al-Bukhari, Musnad Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi and Sahih Ibn Hibban.)
