The tyranny and oppression of Hajjaj bin Yusuf ath-Thaqafi has been an established fact and a byword throughout history. Despite this, historical examples exist where certain individuals established Hajjaj bin Yusuf ath-Thaqafi as the criterion (Mi’yar) between disbelief (Kufr) and Islam.
๐ The Case of Mundhir Abu Hassan
There is a narrator named Mundhir Abu Hassan; regarding him, the people of knowledge have written:
“Kana Hajjajiyyan, Yaqulu ‘Man Khaalafa Al-Hajjaju Faqad Khaalafa Al-Islam'”
“He was a Hajjaji (a partisan of Hajjaj); he used to say: ‘Whoever opposed Hajjaj has indeed opposed Islam’.”

โ ๏ธ A Warning Against Exaggeration
This is one of the worst examples of exaggeration (Ghulu) in obedience to rulers and of using Islam as a crutch to defend their tyranny and oppression.
In the contemporary era, just as “Hajjajis” exist, there are similarlyโnay, even more soโthose present who worship their own respective “Hajjajs.”
