Is it permissible to cooperate with an Ashʿarī man in creed in the field of daʿwah to Allah—ʿazza wa-jall—if refraining from that would lead to harms?- Shaykh Al-Albani (Rahimahullah)

The questioner: An intellectual question: this one says, “Is it permissible to cooperate with a man of Ashʿarī creed in the field of daʿwah to Allah on the pretext that this disagreement in creed does not result in harms, and that not cooperating with him may lead to the fragmentation of the efforts of the Muslims?”

Ash-Shaykh (Nasiruddeen Al-Albani): If cooperating with such a man does not lead, through cooperating with him, to becoming lax regarding his creed, then that is undoubtedly permissible.

Rather, I believe that it is among the religious interests of the believer who is strong in faith to cooperate with the other Muslims who have deviated from the Salafī creed due to one of the old or modern causes.

It is more fitting for this Salafī believer to cooperate with them, because he will find the appropriate opportunity to convey the Salafī daʿwah to him.

And what occurs—and we know this through experience—is that those who oppose will have one of two positions toward this righteous Salafī believer:

(1) either they respond to his daʿwah, and so they incline toward accepting the Salafī madhhab and turning away from their Khalafī madhhab—and this has occurred often— (2) or else they reject him and his madhhab (Salafi Aqeedah), and they themselves refuse to deal with him, in which case the matter comes back upon him and not upon them (translator’s note- the Shaykh means that the Asharis will be sinning for abandoning doing Da’wah with the Salafi, and the Salafi will not be sinning).
