Forgotten Sunnah Series-8

A Sunnah which we’ve abandoned is waiting for the next obligatory Salah after we have completed one.

Abu Huraira reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Should I not suggest to you that by which Allah obliterates the sins and elevates the ranks (of a man). They (the hearers) said: Yes, Messenger of Allah. He said: Performing the ablution thoroughly despite odds, tranverside of more paces towards the mosque, and waiting for the next prayer after observing a prayer, and that is mindfulness (Ar-Ribat).

‘Saheeh As-Seeratin Nabawiyyah of Shaikh Nasiruddin Al-Albani’ is now available in English!

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Alhamdulillah, here we have with us an excellent work by Shaikh Muhammad Nasiruddin Al-Albani Rahimahullah, Saheeh As-Seeratin Nabawiyyah, translated into the English language by our brother Abu Sahl Fahad Barmem Hafidhaullah.

The Shaikh Rahimahullah, began this work by verifying the reports from the Seerah(of Prophet ﷺ) by Imam Ibn Katheer Rahimahullah, and then compiling his checking as a seperate book.

Qaddar Allah, Shaikh Al-Albani passed away before he could complete checking the entire book of Imam Ibn Katheer Rahimahullah. So this book is only from the birth of the Prophet ﷺ till Al-Isra wal-Meraj.

The Shaikh Rahimahullah named it Saheeh As-Seeratin Nabawiyyah.

Even though incomplete, it is yet an invaluable treasure and it inspires us to study the Seerah of The Prophet ﷺ using only authentic reports and Ahadith, and not unreliable, weak and at times fabricated narrations as is found in most books of Seerah.

Thus the speciality of this book is that unlike the other books of Seerah, Shaikh Al-Albani relies only upon the authentic and proven narrations.

Alhamdulillah, this is now available in the English language.

May Allah reward our brother Abu Sahl Fahad Barmem Hafidhaullah for his efforts.

A Sahabi sweetly retaliates to The Messenger of Allah ﷺ

Narrated Usayd ibn Hudayr,:

AbdurRahman ibn AbuLayla,

quoting Usayd ibn Hudayr, a man of the Ansar, said that while he was given to jesting and was talking to the people and making them laugh,

the Prophet (ﷺ) poked him under the ribs with a stick.

He said: Let me take retaliation.

He(ﷺ) said: Take retaliation.

He said: You are wearing a shirt but I am not.

The Prophet (ﷺ) then raised his shirt and the man (Usayd bin Hudayr) embraced him and began to kiss his side.

Then he said: This is what I wanted, Messenger of Allah!

(Sunan Abu Dawud,5224, Sahih Al-Albani)

It says in ‘Awn al-Ma‘bood (14/90):
“the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) poked him in the ribs with a stick” i.e., he struck him by way of joking and playing. “He” i.e., Usayd “said: Let me retaliate” i.e., allow me to poke you in the ribs as you poked me in the ribs. “Retaliate”i.e., take your revenge.
“and kissed his side” – the Arabic word translated as “side” refers to the area on the side of the body between the lowest rib and the hip.
“He said: This is all I wanted” that is, all I wanted by saying let me retaliate was to kiss you, and I did not really want to retaliate. End quote.
