Mariya Qibtiyyah wasn’t a wife of The Prophet ﷺ

Muslim apologists try to prove that Mariya Qibtiyyah (رضي الله عنها) was the wife of The Prophet ﷺ thereby trying to defend the honour of our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

However this is far from the truth and it is well established by proofs that Mariya Qibtiyyah was a slave girl of The Prophet ﷺ, and having a slave girl is not something disliked or prohibited.

Allah allows The Muslims to have slave girls (of course subjected to certain conditions):

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ

And those who guard their private parts

-Sura Al-Ma’arij, Ayah 29

إِلَّا عَلَىٰ أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ

Except from their wives or those their right hands possessions, for indeed, they are not to be blamed –

-Sura Al-Ma’arij, Ayah 30

(Sahih International)

Right hand possesions are nothing but slave girls.

Forgotten Sunnah Series-2

2. Wearing the pants or garments above the ankle for men.

It is narrated o the authority of Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah (may ace he upon him) observed:

Three are the (persons) with whom Allah would neither speak on the Day of Resurrection, nor would look at them nor would absolve them and there is a painful chastisement for them.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) repeated it three times. Abu Dharr remarked: They failed and they lost; who are these persons, Messenger of Allah? Upon this he (the Holy) Prophet) observed:

They are:

  1. the dragger of lower garment,
  2. the recounter of obligation,
  3. the seller of goods by false oath.

(Sahih Muslim,106a)

Summary:

  • Dragging the garment below the ankles is forbidden for men.
  • The person who does a favour upon someone and reminds them of the favour, will be punished by Allah.
  • The shopkeeper who sells goods (his items) by swearing falsely that he bought it for a high base price, is also bound to be punished for his false claims.

The story of the Jewish lady who threw garbage at the Prophet ﷺ is a false narration

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Careless story tellers and Khuttab mention the story below to prove the kindness and mercy the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ came with, however we have many authentic stories to relate instead of lying upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and making a place for ourselves in the Hell Fire. May Allah protect and save us from the Hell Fire.

It goes that a Jewish woman in Mecca who would throw garbage on the doorstep of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in defiance of his message, and one day she fell sick and could not throw the garbage, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) visited her. Then it is said that she was so amazed at his character that she realized his prophethood and accepted Islam.

I tried asking the people (the Jumuah Khutaba) who narrated this fabrication and lie as to where they got it from, but to no avail.

Never could anybody present this story from any reliable source, i.e. Hadith books, one of those who claimed proofs for this presented nothing but a reference to a small story book on The Seerah of The Prophet ﷺ, which is again not an authority on the topic.

The Story of Alqama (رضي الله عنه) and his mother is not authentic

الحمد لله و الصلاة و السلام على رسول الله

Speakers,Khutaba, usually use this narration to show how dangerous it is to not be obedient to one’s mother.

There is a hadeeth about a righteous man (Sahabi) who was called ‘Alqamah ; he was on his deathbed and had not uttered the kalimah (declaration of faith). Then the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent for his mother, who said that she was angry with him, because he used to favour his wife over her. Then after that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gathered firewood and told his mother that he would burn her son before her very eyes. She said: O Messenger of Allah, he is my son and I cannot bear to see you burning him in front of me! The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “O mother of ‘Alqamah, the punishment of Allah is more severe and longer lasting. If you want Allah to forgive him, then forgive him (yourself). By the One in Whose hand is my soul, his prayer, fasting and zakaah will not benefit him so long as you are angry with him.” So the woman forgave her son, and after some time he died, after uttering the shahaadatayn (twin declaration of faith). The hadeeth says that after that, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) called out to the Muhaajireen and Ansaar, saying: “If one of you gives precedence to his wife over his mother, Allah, the angels and all the people will curse him, and Allah will not accept his charity or righteous deeds unless he repent to Allah, may He be exalted, and seeks the pardon and pleasure of his mother. Allah remains angry because of her anger.”

This story is a fabrication and a lie.

See Shaikh Muhammad Salih Al-Munajjid’s answer about the very narration.

Quote:

It was also mentioned in al-Mawdoo‘aat by Ibn ‘Iraaq (2/296), ash-Shawkaani (231), and al-Albaani (no. 3183); and by Shaykh Sulaymaan al-‘Alwaan in his essay, al-I‘laam bi Wujoob at-Tathabbut fi Riwaayat al-Hadeeth (p. 16-17).

Forgotten Sunnah Series-1

1. Wearing the right shoe first and removing it last.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If you want to put on your shoes, put on the right shoe first; and if you want to take them off, take the left one first. Let the right shoe be the first to be put on and the last to be taken off.”

(Al-Bukhari-5855)

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,
“When any of you puts on his shoes, he should put on the right one first; and when he takes them off, he should begin with the left. Let the right shoe be the first to be put on and the last to be taken off.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

When one of you puts on sandals, he should first put in the right foot, and when he takes off he should take off the left one first, or he should put them on together or take them off together.
(Sahih Muslim-2097a)

Imam Muslim (bin Hajjaj) wrote in his Saheeh Muslim:
It Is Recommended To Put Shoes On The Right Foot First, And To Take Them Off From The Left Foot First, And It Is Disliked To Walk In One Shoe.
